So, If the coil is correct (208 rating using with 230 motor) I will try to change the heaters and use the magnetic starter. Is this what I should use for the FLA number or should I go for a higher loading? If FLA is 100% load I require 3 B6.90 heaters which I can pick up on ebay for $25.00 including shipping. The motor does not list the FLA but looking at the chart in the document Randy pointed me to, it states that at 100% load it is pulling 4.3 Amps.

so, since the motor is 230volts is this coil incorrect? I checked my Square D coil and it is a 208 volt coil. But I am not an electrician so, simplicity is nice. However, as Jack mentioned "why do I want to get rid of a $400.00 switch?" This magnetic starter provides motor protection and safety if power goes off in my house while running the tool. So, if I go with the Busy Bee 2 pole rocker switch I have a simple solution for under $15.00. I have absorbed most of the information on the magnetic starter wiki. Thanks for the additional input from Rod and Sparks. Re: wiring Rockwell/Delta Bandsaw Baldor motor to switch Will it be it safe to go line to switch to motor? what switch poles do I connect to - 4,3,2 or 1?Īnd of course I have a photo of part of the infamous 'overload thingy' Switch: see photos Switch Front.jpg, Switch_Back 1-2_side.jpg and Switch_Back_3-4_side.jpgĢ) Switch: where do I connect wire 1 from motor - Switch pole 4,3,2 or 1?ģ) Switch: where do I connect wires 3,4 from motor - Switch pole 4,3,2 or 1?Ĥ) from Plug to Switch: since it is 240 both white and black are hot. The hole on the diagram is where I think it would say to wire line 4 and 5 together.ġ) Motor: wire 3,8,2 - to wire nut wire 1 to switch wire 4,5 to wire nut and to switch (see photo Baldor C元507 High Voltage Diagram.jpg their are two, one photo is crap, the other good.) I have attached pictures.Ĭould someone kindly give me some assistance and indicate what wires go where on the switch? the Baldor info plate has a hole in the high voltage diagram so I am only 98% sure I have the wiring to the motor figured out. I also want to get rid of the overload thingy and have my 220 line go directly to the switch and the switch go directly to the motor. I came across a 3/4 hp Baldor C元507 motor, same rpm and shaft size so I want to put that on. It works, however, the overload thingy gets overloaded with very little load and therefore is really limiting the usefulness of the bandsaw. I purchased a B300 fuse thingy for the overload thingy. I swapped out the 3 phase 1/2 hp motor for a single phase 1/2 motor wired at 240 a while ago. Originally it was 3 phase and has a switch which goes into an overload thingy ( sorry for the technical term ) and then to the motor.
